Rural Bank Act
In June 1952, under the leadership of Senator Eulogio “Amang” Rodriguez, Sr., the Philippine Congress enacted the Rural Bank Act (RA 720) and signed it into law by President Elpidio Quirino. This law paved the way for the establishment of rural banks, which aimed to provide financial assistance to small business owners outside the cities and not served by regular banks.
By virtue of RA 720, the Bank of Livelihoods was established as Rodriguez Rural Bank on November 12, 1952. It was the first rural bank in the Philippines. Its first office was opened on December 11, 1952.

To catalyze the viability and growth of small businesses by way of reasonably structured loans that are responsive to their enterprise life cycle and to uphold the trust and confidence of investors of institutional lenders and of depositors in financing the Bank’s credit granting operations for small enterprises.
Our Vision
By 2027, Bangko ng Kabuhayan shall be top of mind among small entrepreneurs in Southern and Central Luzon and in National Capital Region for funding their growth.
